Fuel Mileage Reminder

Posted by admin on April 24th, 2008

With the price of gas continuing to skyrocket, maintenance items that can make a difference often get overlooked.   One of these is tire pressure.  You should check your tire pressure at least once a month.  Do this when your tires are cold (before leaving in the morning or after they sit at least an hour).  Keeping this pressure at this proper level accomplishes several things.  One of these is insuring that your gas mileage is not adversely effected by over or under inflation.  It obviously enhances the wear on tires, gives you  more even tread wear, and maintains your safety.  Tires and brakes are your first line of defense on the road and should be the two things you check regularly.  Ignoring them, or assuming you do not have to pay attention can cost you dearly in the end.  Most tire failures occur from under inflation causing a build up of heat in the tire.
